About me
Hello my name is Liz Ferguson and thank you for visiting my site. I offer a valuable treasure trove of life experience in my role as an Independent Professional Celebrant.
With a background in military nursing, midwifery, school nursing, teaching and ongoing voluntary work with Young Carers I have witnessed, nurtured and helped in the care of those experiencing life events, the happy, the difficult, wondrous and the sad.
For a number of years I ran a successful catering company called Heaven’s Cake. Events included weddings and funerals, together with providing food and event planning for vow renewals, adoption ceremonies and a host of other magical social events. My motto was that funerals were sad enough without the addition of awful sad cling-filmed food!
I have always enjoyed writing and when blogs were all the rage I wrote a creative missive daily. Writing and receiving letters has been a pleasurable pastime throughout the years and sometimes I think I should have been born in the era of Jane Austen! During the Pandemic and worried about children becoming isolated I have written and illustrated over eighty letters for little folk. There have also been nature letters penned for elderly neighbours who have been shielding. Recently I have been busy writing up my solo World War One research, “The Remember Me Project”.
Keen to pursue a new avenue linking my love of writing together with my enjoyment for public speaking I decided to train as a Wedding & Family Celebrant with the International College of Professional Celebrants. I have found my soft moss lined niche!
I am fortunate to be a mother to three adult children and am “Biddy” to three adorable and very noisy grandsonnies! Determined to “out-noise” the grandsonnies my long suffering husband is a fanatical bagpiper! A lively Wire Fox Terrier in the midst, sewing machine, pots & pans, my voluntary work “hat”, walking boots and being a bit of a history nut I am lively and interesting company!
If you are wanting to shout loudly about something marvellous or indeed if you want to talk softly about someone who has stepped off the earth I would love to hear from you.
Thank you
Liz
